Some Saturday soul food: Nancy Long

Hello everyone It's some-Saturday-soul-food-on-a-Sunday today. The reason? This weekend I've had the delicious distraction of a dear girlfriend of mine being popped on a plane to Hobart for the weekend as a surprise by her thoughtful husband. He's at home minding their two young daughters, bless him. We haven't seen each other for 4 years so there's much gleeful catching up to do. So this will be brief as I want to get back to her!

This week, I've chosen a quotation from Nancy Long (I can't find a reference - let me know if you've heard of her).
Whether we name divine presence synchronicity, serendipity, or graced moment matters little.
What matters is the reality that our hearts have been understood.
Nothing is as real as a healthy dose of magic which restores our spirits.
Having my girlfriend staying here has reminded me of the joy of having my heart understood. It is an extraordinary feeling to have someone *get* me on all levels. She is a blessing to me. After a day and half, I already feel like my spirits have been restored.

Do you have any special people in your lives who make you feel the same? I can't wait to hear your thoughts.

PS 'Sunday splendour' will return next week.

Lovely post Jane and how exciting to have your dear friend visit and to be able to spend precious time together. I have two best friends who I feel the same about - being able to chat, off-load, vent, share joys and laugh together with someone who understands me so well is very special. Enjoy the rest of the weekend before she heads home x

Sounds like you are having a lovely time Jane. Yes, I have a close friend who I see only ever few years, but when we do it's like a day hasn't passed. A nice feeling.

I did, Sarah. Nothing like seeing a friend who's known you for more than half your life to make you feel good. J x

Oh Jane, what a lovely surprise!! I'm sure you two will have such a wonderful time catching up.
I have a friend who I don't get to see more than once every couple of years, but it's always a fabulous catch-up. I actually had a dream about her last night, so that coupled with your post makes me think it's time her and I got together again.

Go for it, Lisa! J x
That's wonderful Jane, I can just imagine the two of you nattering away and catching up on old times. I agree, nothing lifts the spirits like the company of a good friend. My hubby has been away these last 3 days and I have spent the entire day today at a girlfriends house and it was just fantastic. See you soon! Mel xx

Looking forward to it, Lovely! J x
Lucky you, what a wonderful way to spend the weekend! I caught up with old school friends and their families at a friends farm in Victoria while we were on our recent road trip. We were just settling into the chat and a wine when Felix almost sliced his ear off on a fallen tree. One friend and my husband spent the rest of the day at the hospital overseeing the eight stitches. I'm sure that it will develop into one of those 'remember when' stories that we will laugh about sometime down the track?! Rx

Oh Romy, what a shocker. I'm glad you can see the humour in it now. J x
